As a follow up on my previous post regarding warranties and aftermarket products, I am seriously debating the install of an aftermarket sports cat for my 991.2 GTS. To be honest, it is not something that I need or is a must have. When I owned my 996 Carrera 4 911, it seemed to lack power and the sporty sound that I expected from a sports car. However, my current car lacks neither of those. I love the way it sounds and its performance exceeds all of my expectations for a sports car. So why install any aftermarket product? A good friend of mine, Nash, states, "that something good can always get better." Based on that theory, I am curious to see if I can get a little more performance from it, while improving the sports car sound. On this blog/forum, I plan on walking you through my process, from the beginning to the end. Right now, I am in the research phase, which company's to buy from and which will produce the best performance and sound, without the drone, for my Porsche. Also, price is always a consideration. How much am I willing to spend for the cats and install; or do I DIY it and install them myself? Based on what I have researched, it is a pretty easy install (4-5 hours). I will follow-up on this if I decide to DIY. First step, the research phase and companies that offer the product that I want. Listed below are the top 5-companies that I am considering and why they made my top 5: 1. Soul Performance - Soul has an excellent reputation in the Porsche community. I have never heard anything negative about them. Their prices are reasonable, if not cheaper than some others and they come with a lifetime guarantee. Listed below is what Soul claims on their website: https://soulpp.com/product/porsche-991-2-carrera-with-pse-sport-catalytic-converters/ Porsche 991.2 Carrera (with PSE) Sport Catalytic Converters $2,395.00 $2,155.50 Upgrade from the restrictive factory catalysts to Soul Performance Products Sport Catalytic Converters, built around premium HJS HD 200 cell catalysts which offer significant increases in power and sound with no compromises or check engine lights. Enjoy a respectable gain in turbo sound, throttle response, and power for your Carrera.

+ All Soul Performance Products components are backed by a renowned Lifetime Warranty for both street and track use 2. Fabspeed Motorsports - Fabspeed is another brand that has an excellent reputation, for the most part, and they are competitive in price. At one point last year, prior to COVID, Fabspeed selected me as a "Fabspeed Ambassador," to be honest, I still don't know what that means. I think, due to COVID, the Ambassador program fell to the wayside. I contacted my representative with them to see if there are any perks associated with the Ambassador program (I will follow-up with that as well). Listed below is what Fabspeed claims on their website: https://www.fabspeed.com/porsche-991-2-carrera-sport-cats-for-pse-2017-2019/ HJS German imported catalytic converters are made from some of the highest grade materials you can find in a catalytic converter. This yields high performance gains and longevity so it wont deteriorate over time like lower grade catalytic converters. These catalytic converters flow up to 93-95% of a straight pipe in most applications. The benefit is that you get the "straight pipe sound" while still being able to provide enough emissions scrubbing to prevent a check engine light. Here is what Tubi claims: https://catalogue.tubistyle.it/porsche/911-carrera-gts-991-2-2017.html CATALYTIC CONVERTER 200 CELLS To install this option increases the engine’s performance and adds an aural improvement for all to appreciate. Kline-Innovations - I don't know much about this company but during my research I had two well-respected European automotive performance specialists recommend them. I reached out to the via Instagram, and they responded and asked me to email them. I literally just sent them an email inquiring about their cats. This is what Kline claims: https://www.kline-innovation.com/exhaust-collection/porsche/991-2/porsche-991-2-carrera-turbo-exhaust/ Available in Decat for optimum sound and performance, or a choice of 100 or 200 cell high flow sports cats. The cats section is modular, allowing the cats to be swapped with decat very rapidly, depending on intended use. Performance gains for decat system, 35hp and 41nm @6000 rpm. 20 and 16hp for 100 and 200 cell respectively. For the 200 sport cell cats, I am looking at 16HP and the price is: ??? (waiting on a quote) 5. Awe Tuning - Similar as the previous brands mentioned, great reputation and competitive in price. The AWE Tuning Performance catalysts are an easy, pure bolt-on solution to unlock power and aggression out of the .2 Carrera. Featuring HJS HD 200CPSI cores, the Performance Catalysts mate seamlessly to the SwitchPath Exhaust to make it a complete turbo-back, and the factory-equipped PSE.
Smooth, uninterrupted bends, factory-like domed core outlet design, CEL-free operation. Power.
Please note: the AWE Tuning Performance Catalysts are for racing use only.

There are other great companies that I considered and ruled themout for different reasons (such as, Akropovic, Capristo, Cargraphic). These companies either didn't address the Check Engine Light (CEL) or the warranty associated with their product. Last thing I want is that annoying CEL on. If that comes on, now I cannot pass an emissions test or have to spend another two-grand for an ECU tune. I may eventually get an ECU tune but that is another post for another day. If you have any thoughts or suggestions on this, or have another recommendation, please let me know. I will be making a decision soon.
